Commencing Salary £38,461 (pro rata)

The National Union of Teachers is seeking to appoint a Principal Officer (job-share) for its Eastern Regional Office based in Kennett, nr Newmarket.  The hours of work for this appointment will be 14 hours per week (2 days -Thursday/Friday) starting ideally during week commencing 1st April 2013.

The main responsibility of the post is to assist the Regional Secretary in delivering the full range of our services to members and to assume oversight for the office and the administrative team in the absence of the Regional Secretary. Other responsibilities will include involvement in individual casework, undertaking research, the servicing of regional meetings and assistance in the development of regional training and recruitment materials. Candidates should be able to demonstrate current knowledge of the education service and have experience in advising or support in a union/public service/voluntary sector environment.  The successful candidate will have ability to work under pressure as part of a team and will be committed to the Union’s Equal Opportunity Policy.

•           Commencing salary £38,461 (pro rata on rising scale)

•           31½ days leave (pro-rata) rising with service and generous concessionary leave
